Plot[]
Part One: Lucille has her tea leaves read by Hilda who predicts a Spring wedding for her. Stan is worried how he will make this one come true. Hilda keeps a checklist of her predictions to track her supposed successes, not realising that Stan hasn't yet found a way to fiddle the more difficult ones. Ray isn't bothered about finding Janice. In front of Len, Dave tells him he has three hours left to return his belongings, or else. Annie isn't pleased about Lucille's prediction, nor Stan's message that Hilda won't be coming into work again. Jack urges her to make amends with Emily. Annie considers it demeaning and insists that Emily make the first move. Ray tells Ena he's keeping the money and moving on. She tells him not to throw away his future and instead give her the money to hand back to Dave.
Part Two: Maggie is annoyed when Lucille pesters her for news of Gordon's exam results. Minnie tells Hilda she is on a losing streak at the betting shop. Ena returns the money and tells Dave he's past redemption. Dave calls her interfering and tells her to get onto Minnie if she's so into helping lame dogs; she owes him money. Stan confesses to Len that he's shattered by Hilda's business. Gordon passes his exams with flying colours. Ena finds Minnie filling out a betting slip in the snug. She rips it up and confiscates her newspaper. She then informs Len that Janice stole Dave's car and that Ray is packing because he isn't trusted at the yard. Len feels guilty about his attitude and tries to make amends. Maggie is proud of Gordon who's won £5 for being one of the youngest candidates. A jealous Dickie overhears her talking. Gordon spends his prize money on an engagement ring for Lucille. Dave learns the truth about Janice and makes up with Len and Ray. Lucille can't persuade Emily to change her mind. Elsie offers to pay off Minnie's debt of over £10 but Ena refuses on her friend's behalf. Hilda excitedly tells Stan that a reporter is coming round to interview her. Stan fears the deluge of customers that the publicity will bring them.
