Plot[]

Part One: Ken's bought a baby intercom which he and Val test. Minnie brings Ray to No.14, saying he's agreed to babysit and are told that Ena has already agreed to do it. Jack is shocked to hear from Emily that she's been given notice to quit. He tells her to take no notice of Annie but Emily is too hurt to change her mind. Billy confesses that he might be behind the eviction and Jack tells him how tired he is of him causing trouble. Gordon apologises to Len for being too protective of Maggie. Len assures him he has no untoward intentions towards her. Maggie is pleased they're friends again. An unkempt girl with an attitude calls into the corner shop looking for Len. Jack tells Annie that Emily isn't to leave but his wife refuses to back down and accuses Emily of turning her husband against her. Ken gives Ena the other part of the intercom in No.6, telling her that they're taking Minnie to a Spanish restaurant and it's her turn next. A guilty Billy apologises to Emily who's looking for a room to stay in. The girl asks after Len in the Rovers. Billy tells Annie firmly that if Emily goes he'll never return to Weatherfield again.

Part Two: Ena rages at Minnie through the intercom when she hears her friend bad-mouthing her skills with electrics. Without really apologising, Annie tries to stop Emily from leaving, but in front of the regulars Emily makes it clear that she's not changing her mind. Billy visits Ena to say goodbye. He confesses that he worries about his parents' combustible marriage. Minnie has persuaded the Barlows to take her bowling after the meal and thoroughly enjoys herself. Annie cries as Billy says his goodbyes and departs. The Barlows and Minnie return back to No.14 to find Ena watching their television set which she has fixed herself. Annie tries to stop Emily walking out with her bags and no idea where to go. Annie is put out when Elsie hands Emily a spare key to No.11 with instructions to make herself at home. The girl comes back to the Rovers. Ray sees her and introduces Len to his kid sister - Janice.
