Plot[]
Part One: Having just finished the call from Steve, Gregg and Dot stress over whether to tell Elsie. Dot doesn't want the responsibility of triggering her depression again and they think of getting Len to tell her. Finding out from Elsie that he is in the Rovers, they rush there to speak to him. Len warns Annie that she will attract adverse publicity by evicting Emily and Dolores and she graciously allows the donkey to stay until the morning. Len shoots off before Gregg can say anything. The next day, Joe Donelli and Gary Strauss return to the street and immediately banter with Lucille. Emily panics when Dolores disappears from the Rovers' yard. Lucille and Gordon attend Audrey's beauty contest rehearsal where MC Norman Forshaw takes a special interest in her. Gregg gets Joe and Gary to keep quiet about Steve. Maggie suggests they find out which hospital Tommy is in and tell him about Dolores. Dave Smith returns to Weatherfield after six months and calls on Elsie, telling her he has a new business venture for which he needs her special talents.
Part Two: Emily and Maggie call at Tommy's yard where they meet his neighbour Alice Waincott who tells them he's been on holiday in Majorca. They realise they've been had. Elsie is buoyant about what Dave's business matter could be but Dot has a bad feeling about the matter. Dickie brings Audrey's 'O' Level results to the rehearsal. She's had mixed success. A drunk singing Tommy enters his yard with Dolores, saying he found her wandering in Union Street. He gets a cold reception from Emily and Maggie. He gives Emily a wooden donkey as a thank-you present with another for Minnie. Elsie pushes Dave to tell her what his business venture could be and he offers to take her there now. Gordon, Lucille, Joe and Gary agree to go to the beauty contest. Annie thinks the donkey is for her when Emily silently places it on the bar. A still-drunk Tommy staggers into the pub and she finds out what's really happened. Dave shows Elsie that he's bought Gamma Garments and has turned it into a florists, naming it "The Pink Posy". He tells her it's all hers.
