Plot[]
Part One: As the embarrassed regulars watch on, Maggie asks Annie to keep Lucille away from Gordon; he has his studies and she wants something better for him than Lucille. Jack steps in to calm matters but Annie inflames Maggie when she suggests she's smothering Gordon. Maggie makes personal comments about Lucille and accuses Annie of corrupting Gordon by serving spirits. Annie orders her to leave and bursts into tears. The next morning, Dennis tries to choose hymns for the wedding. He refuses to have the reception in the Rovers, wanting the Lancastria Dining Rooms. Annie is still in a rage and thinks something else is going on with the Cleggs that they don't know about. Minnie worries when Bobby is listless. Val is upset at the pompous way that Ken treats her like a schoolchild. He apologises but she's too tearful to listen. Jerry thinks no one will miss him but Len doesn't relish the prospect of just Ray and Stan as his colleagues. Going against his mother's wishes, Gordon agrees to go on a date with Lucille.
Part Two: Jack and Les return from another bowls match. Annie is annoyed to find out that the wedding reception will not be in the Rovers. Gordon lies to his mother that he's going out with a college friend. Minnie seeks herbal medicines for Bobby from Maggie. Ray is dismissive when Lucille tells him that their date is off. Len assures Ray that he'll keep him on once Jerry has gone. Val refuses Ken's suggestion that they go and see the film Mon Oncle. Bobby recovers. Jenny is pleased when Dennis suggests they marry in a registry office instead of a church. Minnie tries to pass Bobby's medicine off on an outraged Annie when she feels under the weather. Minnie receives a hairnet from Ena in the post. Jack makes her see that it's to let her know she's coming back from St Annes for the wedding.
