Plot[]
Part One: A hung-over Ken is hardly talking to Val. He refuses to believe her assurances that she doesn't fancy Ray and she throws back at him his affair with Jackie Marsh. Len isn't pleased to hear of Ray's interest in Val from Lucille. Jerry gets impatient with his two colleagues' lack of attention to their work on plumbing the maisonettes. Jack and Annie read the paper on Lancashire's forthcoming Royal visit. Dennis tries to get in contact with Jed Stone to be his best man and discovers he might be somewhere in Blackpool. Hilda invites the Cleggs to come round to No.13 one night to play cards. Maggie interrupts Val and Ray talking to find out when the shop window will be fixed. Maggie tries to put Lucille off Gordon by claiming he's too busy with his studies. She lies to her son when he asks her if Lucille has been in the shop.
Part Two: Dennis still can't trace Jed's supposed present whereabouts in Liverpool and realises he's friendless. Len, Jerry and Ray finish the plumbing contract on the maisonettes and go to celebrate in the Rovers. Jack invites Les to go bowling with him. Les delivers an order to No.9 and finds a frosty atmosphere between Val and Ken. She apologises to her husband for her manner, but he remains cold, kidding her on until he reveals that he's put them on the list for a maisonette. She's delighted. Dennis can't get through Walter Potts's agent to speak to his old protege. Gordon calls on Lucille and apologises for being off with her. She makes him dance with her to her records. Downstairs, Annie doesn't like the noise. Gordon talks about going to a disco with Lucille once he's past his 18th birthday next week. Stan is getting on better with Reg Barton until he spills his drink. Jerry tells Len that "Fairclough and Booth" have finished as a partnership.
