Notes[]

  • The two scenes on the Grape Street set were OB recorded. The first of these was a day-for-night shoot and glimpsed the corner shop. As contemporary photographs showed this to be the first part of the terraced side of the street to be erected, this episode marks the first true appearance of that section of the programme's first permanent outdoor set.
  • Emily Nugent reports back to Annie Walker on how she cashed up in the Rovers the night before and states that within the silver there was a new 10p coin, stating it is perfectly legal tender. The coin, alongside the new 5p, had been introduced the day before this episode was broadcast in preparation for the UK converting to decimal currency on 15th February 1971. See also the notes to Episode 919 (15th October 1969) and Episode 1052 (15th February 1971).
  • TV Times synopsis: Miss Nugent is 'called to the bar'
  • Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast - 6,850,000 homes (6th place).
