Plot[]
Part One: Irma has come down with a chill, so Emily helps David clean the shop which is getting more business due to the workers from the building site. Jack counsels Len that Jerry has a good head on his shoulders, and he ought to go along with his business instincts. Ken and Val plan to go on a Sunday picnic and Albert tries to borrow a thermos for it from the neighbours. Dennis looks forward to Jenny making a Sunday dinner for him. She isn't concerned when Elsie tells her that Dennis was once in borstal. Emily is late making Miklos's lunch, so he goes to wait in the Rovers. Albert is hurt when Ken makes it clear that the picnic is just for him, Val and the twins. Len gets annoyed when Miklos criticises aspects of Britain. Elsie, Dennis and Jenny make a trip together to the Rovers. Albert is amused when Ken can't get his car to start.
Part Two: Neither David, Miklos nor Albert can help Ken restart the car. Val waits with the twins inside No.9 where Emily comes for a chat. She is surprised at the amount of time she spends in the Rovers nowadays and tells Val she fancies Miklos but, admitting that she's a virgin, says that she is afraid to sleep with him. Val tells her that sometimes it's very wrong to be afraid. All of Ken's helpers give up. Passing by, Minnie gets the car to work by suggesting Ken looks at its distributor, a tip she picked up from Jed Stone. Lucille feels Miklos is wasted on Emily and thinks Elsie would have been a better fit, but Elsie says she's past-it. Alone in her flat, Miklos asks Emily to let her hair down loose. They dance and kiss, and he leads her to her bed. Back home, Elsie and Jenny find common ground in talking about helping bring up their numerous offspring but Jenny still feels she's up and down with her. Miklos gets angry when Emily rejects his advances. She tells him that she tried and breaks down as he walks out. Val finds her in tears.

Notes[]
- During the first scene in 11 Coronation Street, someone knocks over some items elsewhere in the studio but Philip Lowrie and Mitzi Rogers carry on regardless.
- The identity of the children playing Peter and Susan Barlow is unknown. They make a rare appearance in studio scenes for this period of the programme's history and not in the more controllable format of location filming.
- Jack Walker tells Miklos Zadic that Manchester once had it's own speakers' corner. This was situated at the corner of Deansgate and St. Mary's Gate between World War II and 1963 on a vacant bombsite. The present day Speakers House marks the site.
- Talking with Emily Nugent, Valerie Barlow mentions that she almost cheated on Ken, referencing her near-affair with Dave Robbins, a storyline that began in Episode 314 (16th December 1963).
- TV Times synopsis: Miss Nugent faces a dilemma
- Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast - 8,300,000 homes (4th place).
