Plot[]
John is positive and upbeat on his first day back to work. Sean visits Maria to see if she's okay after her revelation about Frank's attack. Sally overhears Kevin's money worries. Frank refuses to rejoin Underworld. Carla persuades Sean that Frank's attack was misconstrued by Maria. Eddie tells Anna to let Hilary break the news about Faye's mother. Peter is worried about John when Jason and Rosie enter the bookies. Gail is surprised when Nick announces he needs a bar manger in the bistro. John remains calm when Rosie tries to rile him. Faye is upset when Eddie tells her about her mother's death. Anna is furious. Ben Dean's arrival at No.5 antagonises John. Fiz forces John to sign the papers for the windfall from the sale of Joy Fishwick's house. Sally sympathises with Kevin and returns half of his winnings. The factory girls quiz Sean over his chat with Carla. Kirk is concerned for Maria. Gail horrifies Nick and joins the rest of the interviewees for the position of bar manager. John admits to Fiz that he's done something.

- Gail McIntyre makes reference to a November 1976 storyline when she informs Audrey Roberts that she once worked behind the bar at the Rovers. This was in Episodes 1650 and 1651, although Gail bends the truth and tells Audrey that her stint as a barmaid was a great success.
