Plot[]
Part One: Jim's attempted hold-up of the building society is the lead story in the papers. Liz is angry at what he did. Becky tries to comfort her. Jim rings the Rovers, saying he wants to see his wife. Chesney and Katy are finding it difficult to meet the bills. Katy says that she'll get a part-time job to supplement Chesney's market income. Tracy confronts Becky. She's angry about Jim's foiled plot as Amy is being bulled at school over the matter. Lloyd is hurt by Steve's plan to leave him in the lurch. Norris and Mary watch on as they argue at the other end of the bar. Owen is angry at Katy's nonchalance towards her education. She's adamant that she's going to get a job and forget her GCSEs. Kevin tells Sally that he's not taking the car back as she continues to reject it. Sat with Frank, Tracy riles Maria in the Rovers and Carla is left to defuse the situation, reminding Maria that Frank is a paying customer. Liz visits Jim in prison. He says how sorry he is.
Part Two: Jim tells Liz that he did what he did for their future. She promises to wait for him. After a poor day on the market, Chesney finds an upset Katy and tells her that Owen is right about her education. She refuses to listen to him. Liz and Steve go through Jim's things and rue the pressure they put on him. Becky tells her she's welcome to stay as long as she wants. Maria is determined to persevere and throws herself into work at the factory. Carla warns her that Tracy's boyfriend is the only thing between them and receivership. Kevin is gutted when he finds out that Sally has sold the car. Frank spooks Maria when she leaves the factory at night. She's unimpressed when he apologises for Tracy's behaviour. Liz is downbeat after a tough shift in the Rovers dealing with the neighbours' gossip. She grows increasingly upset as her commitment to Jim dawns on her. Jim lies alone in his cell. Liz remembers her time at the Rovers and leaves the street in a midnight flit.
