Plot[]

Part One: Irma has another cold and David points out she'd get less in Australia. An excited Hilda can't find Stan to show him a brochure about the country. He's taken refuge in the Rovers to get away from her endless talk about down under. Bored herself with such talk, and blaming Jack for starting it, Annie orders her husband to try and talk Hilda out of it. Hilda locates Stan in the bar and he flees. Jack admits to Hilda that he was winding her up about the benefits of the country, and Annie also tries to prevent her going on. Emily and Miklos go to Matlock for the day. Jerry is tired of Fairclough and Booth only doing small-scale work while Len spending time on council business. Elsie dreads telling Dennis about the break-up of her marriage. Dennis and Jenny Sutton travel up from London by train. He asks her to wear a wedding ring. She isn't pleased to be going back to somewhere so narrow-minded, but he insists they need a base from which to get started in life.

Part Two: Stan shows Hilda an emigration form that he's filled out for Australia. She realises it's just for her. He tells her he likes England and he's not leaving. Stan celebrates asserting himself with a pint in the Rovers. He and David make a £1 bet as to whether Stan has managed to silence Hilda. The train arrives in Manchester where Dennis and Jenny bump into Emily and Miklos returning from Matlock. Dennis hustles Jenny away before Emily can tell him that Elsie is back. Stan wins the bet when Hilda announces they're not going. Jerry thinks it's wrong that people are being prevented from following their dreams. David tells Irma he realises they can't go to Australia without her. His despondency comes to abrupt end when Irma tells him that she thinks he's pregnant again. Dennis and Jenny enter No.11 to find their new chairs in situ before a lit fire. They're startled when Elsie comes into the house but not as much as Elsie is when Dennis introduces Jenny as the other "Mrs Tanner".
