Plot[]
Part One: The visitor explains to Fiz that he's been employed by Joy's solicitor to track down her son, who is the principle beneficiary in her will. Wanting to be rid of him, Fiz tells the legal investigator she and "Colin" fell out with Joy, and refuses to accept her money. Peter is about to have a drink when Janice arrives back. Annoyed by the interruption, Peter suggests she's in the way. Affronted Janice agrees to move out immediately. The investigator informs Fiz that the solicitor will be in touch. Chesney arrives back with Katy and thinks he was a debt collector. Sally invites the Windasses round for tea. They're surprised but accept, not knowing that Sally is hoping that they will sabotage the house viewing. Janice packs her bags and leaves. Leanne wonders what's going on. Carla informs Nick that she's discovered that Peter is drinking again. Gary tells Izzy he's moving out of No.6 but doesn't know where to. As Nick listens on, Janice tells Leanne what transpired between them. Izzy invites Gary to stay with her when Anna questions him about his plans. To stop Chesney's questions, Fiz tells him the truth that John has inherited Joy's money, which might be several hundred thousand pounds. Chesney's astounded.
Part Two: Fiz contemplates how Hope might need to pay for medical treatment for her in later life. She's clearly warming to the idea of accepting Joy's bequest. Nick sympathises with Leanne, who's caught between Janice and Peter. Owen's displeased to learn that Gary is moving in. Nick reminds Leanne that it's thirteen years since they were married. Sally's plan works like a dream as she lets Eddie conduct the house viewing, putting the couple off with talk of the tram crash and the neighbours. Peter's angry with Leanne for taking Janice's side in their row. Leanne's frustrated. Sophie's amused by Sally's underhand tactics as the couple leave the house demonstrating no enthusiasm. Audrey meets Claudia and Marc for a drink in the Rovers. Marc is more taken by Audrey than Claudia. Owen quietly warns Gary not to accept the offer, but he stands his ground. Owen declares that they're enemies. Chesney thinks Fiz is mad, wanting to accept Colin's inheritance. Fiz is willing to take the risk if it means Hope is provided for. Fiz decides to become "Mrs Fishwick".
