Plot[]
Part One: Leanne quickly covers, telling Peter that Nick's annoyed because she threw a sickie and didn't turn up for work. Peter makes Nick apologise. Captain Barden informs Eddie and Anna that Gary's been injured with shrapnel in his back and legs, as well as arm and rib fractures, and three lads in the unit were killed, including Quinny. Anna cries. Rosie doesn't want to go to Jack's funeral as it's depressing, and Sophie is just pleased it's not in a church. Kevin loses his temper over their attitude. Jim celebrates his birthday in the Rovers. He's disappointed by Liz's absence at a brewery function. Eddie has to comfort a crying Anna. Michelle's annoyed with Carla for leaving her in the lurch at the factory all day. Leanne turns up for work. Nick's surprised to see her but Leanne explains she didn't feel she had much choice. They have harsh words in the bar's office and Carla sees that Leanne is upset.
Part Two: Michelle isn't happy to see Carla in The Joinery when she claimed she was doing paperwork. Roy and Hayley visit Anna and Eddie and hear that Gary is being transported to hospital in Birmingham within 48 hours. Roy promises Anna full pay for any time she needs off. Leanne pours her heart out to Carla telling her how Peter's got a friend called "Carl" who's an alcoholic who he spends all his time with. Leanne admits she's never met Carl, but she's jealous of him. Carla remains tight-lipped. They go back to Leanne's flat to talk more. Sophie and Sian attend choir practice but the pastor makes it clear they're not welcome. Sophie tells him he's a loser. Ciaran's sympathetic towards Michelle's complaints about Carla and tells her he's crazy about her. Carla hints that she has a man. A crying Leanne confides in Carla that she slept with Nick and now she deeply regrets it. Roy announces to the Rovers' regulars about Gary, and Quinny's death. Ex-army Jim raises his glass to them. Leanne is determined not to quit The Joinery. Peter's uneasy to find that she and Carla have spent the evening talking.
