Plot[]
Part One: Irma and Val chat Miklos up. They arrange a date for that night. Ena casts judgement on Minnie's everyday habits, causing her friend offence. Ena gives Albert the brush-off when he comes round to see how they're getting on together, suspecting him of being nosy. Myra is thrilled when Jerry calls on her but he's only interested in knowing what she's after. She makes him stay for a cup of tea and assures him that she only came back to the street out of curiosity. When she places her hand on his, he makes his excuses and leaves. Her face has a calculating look once he's gone. Val tries to think of a way to back out of the date, insisting she was only joking. She suggests they set up an unattached Emily with Miklos instead. The brewery begins to ignore Annie's phone calls, seemingly tired of her changing demands. Len is worried when Jerry tells him he's had a pleasant surprise. Ena begins to get annoyed with Minnie when she criticises her household spending.
Part Two: Irma isn't subtle when she tries to find out what time Emily is returning from work. Val worries that they're setting her up with someone they barely know. Ena admits to Jack and Ken that she's finding it difficult getting used to her reduced financial circumstances now that she's lost her free accommodation at the mission. Having fielded several calls from Myra at the yard, Len warns Jerry that she is up to no good and she wants him back. The brewery refuse to decorate the Rovers to Annie's specifications so she tells them she'll pay for it herself. A furious Jack refuses when he finds out. Miklos finds Ken and David waiting for him when he comes to collect Val and Irma. They make excuses for their wives and then try to find reasons to keep him in the shop until Emily comes back. Once she does, they scarper, leaving the two alone. Taken with her intelligence, he asks her out and she accepts. Myra waits outside the yard until Len has left. She tries to provoke Jerry, saying he's now under Len's thumb. Falling for her ruse, he takes her out to show her that she's wrong.
