Plot[]
Part One: Graeme's feeling dejected, having blown his chance with Rosie. David is determined to press ahead with his plot to buy a witness for Gail and tells Graeme that he plans to approach Anka, the cottage's Polish cleaner. Roy tries to bridge the gulf between him and Hayley but when she asks if he sees her as a woman, he hurts her even more when remarks that he knows she's a woman because she has a birth certificate to prove it. Carla almost catches Janice and Trevor talking about his World Cup trip. Sophie panics over her RE exam that day. Graeme calls round at No.4 with flowers, intent on apologising to Rosie, but she refuses to listen to his excuses. David locates where Anka is working and needs cash for the bribe, but Graeme can't help him. The factory roof continues to leak. Izzy and Kirk start work there. David is forced to ask Nick for £300 and demands to know why he needs it. David blurts out that he wants to buy a witness.
Part Two: Nick's incredulous to learn of David's plan and refuses to have any part in it. Ken and Deirdre visit Tracy. They quiz her about her accusations regarding Gail. Tracy swears she's telling the truth and berates them for not believing her. Ken and Deirdre remain confused. Fiz sees that Hayley seems upset. Jason examines the leak in the roof. Anna finds Hayley in tears and takes her to No.6 for a cup of tea. Dev and Sunita see Graeme entering No.12 with his own key. Anna comforts Hayley, who wonders if she can ever make Roy understand her now if he doesn't after twelve years. Ken and Deidre warn Tracy that she's going to branded as an informer. Carla leaves Nick to meet with their potential new client while she goes to the dentist. On her way out, Jason tells her that the roof will be a very big job. She tells him to put the scaffolding up. David prepares to set off for the Lakes. Nick tries to stop him but has a last-minute change of heart and agrees to help. David's astonished. Dev and Sunita ask Jason if Graeme is lodging at No.12. Tina's touched to hear that Graeme missed his date with Rosie to look after her. They share an intense moment, just before the doorbell rings. Nick returns to the factory and opens the safe, taking out its cash.
