Plot[]
Part One: Becky returns to the Rovers in a furious mood. Roy buys flowers for Hayley. David organises a petition to free Gail and gets annoyed at Nick's lukewarm reaction. Tracy phones Deirdre and tells her that Becky attacked her and threatened to stop Amy's visits. Becky tells Steve about Tracy's conditions and that the two had a row. Steve's annoyed that she couldn't control her temper just this once. The factory girls are worried about a leaking roof putting water on the electrics. Carla reveals that the current order from Boyd Rickson has doubled but the deadline of next Friday remains the same. She orders the girls to get working. Tracy pretends to become distressed on her phone call. Gail also falls for the deception and hugs her. Deirdre confronts Steve and Becky about Tracy's phone call, saying they have no right to stop Tracy seeing her daughter. Cheryl and her friend Corina call for a taxi but Eddie beats Lloyd to it. Steve's shocked when Deirdre reveals that Becky was thrown out of the visiting room for attacking Tracy. He makes his wife apologise but she erupts when she hears him telling Deirdre that she's a total hothead.
Part Two: Anna tells Hayley that her massage technique doesn't mean she fancies Roy. David and Graeme hang a "Free Gail McIntyre" banner outside No.8. Nick congratulates them and informs David that he's arranged for a Gazette reporter to cover the campaign. David's surprised but grateful. Lloyd hurries to beat Eddie to another call from Cheryl. Over her special meal, Hayley attempts to persuade Roy to celebrate the longevity of their relationship with a wedding, but Roy cannot overlook the expense and reluctantly withdraws his proposal. Hayley's gutted. David and Graeme pass round the petition in the Rovers. Eileen, Liz and Julie sign it. Lloyd collects Cheryl from the club and observes as she gets ticked off by the manager for skiving. Nick tells Carla he's approached Paul Stokes, an old contact, with a view to securing another order. Steve and Becky are at loggerheads in the bar and Liz has to step in. Lloyd offers to help Cheryl if she's having trouble with her boss, but she assumes he's just chatting her up. Across the bar, Becky rows with Steve for not supporting her in front of Deirdre. Steve objects but Becky declares that they have no chance of adopting a child.
