The little girl is also struggling to understand her great-grandmother's death and, desperately trying to cheer her up, Steve agrees she can change her name to "McDonald". Liz is perturbed about what Tracy will say. The cafe has to close due to no staff for the day, though Roy isn't happy about the fact. The mourners gather in the street as the funeral procession departs, organised by Archie. Deirdre is surprised to see so many of the residents present. Eddie and Anna prepare for a visit from social worker Hilary Pugsley. Eddie has baked her a cake. May Penn and the One O'Clock Club are awaiting for the cortege's arrival outside St. Edmond's Church. Ken, Peter, Dev, Norris, Ashley are Roy are Blanche's chosen coffin bearers. Everyone is staggered when Tracy arrives, handcuffed to a prison officer. Deirdre is overjoyed.

Part Two: Inside the church, Janice is amused that Blanche's chosen music is Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive. Tracy's put out when Amy sits with Steve and Becky in church and doesn't smile at her. Sian informs a thrilled Sophie that she will not be returning to Southport until her exams. With the One O'Clock Club gazing down from the gallery, a nervous Deirdre takes to the pulpit, delivering an affectionate eulogy which recalls both Blanche's good and bad points. Hilary arrives at No.6 and it's clear the hard-faced woman's going to be tough to impress. After the service, Audrey warns Tracy off from approaching Gail in prison. As the coffin is taken for its burial, Tracy and Amy are reunited and Amy tells her mother about her impending name change. Tracy confronts Steve and Becky, and a fight breaks out in front of a crying Deirdre.
