Part One: An upbeat Steve surprises Becky with a minibreak in Newcastle starting that afternoon so they can get amorous. She's delighted. Liz is less than happy to be saddled with looking after the Rovers with no notice. David laughs at Nick's black eye. A hung-over Jason's in a foul mood following his break-up with Tina. Bill tries to snap him out of it when he's late for work. Sunita struggles to get Dev to consider a modest house locally for them to live in, rather than Didsbury. Jason loses his temper when Bill tells him there's plenty more fish in the sea and quits his job. Mary plans her and Norris's Bronte country trip. Rita spots Lewis's escort advert in The Lady magazine. Steve seeks Ciaran's help when his attempts to make a special meal go awry. Rita takes another look at Norris's photo of Audrey with Lewis to confirm it's the same man. Sunita hears from Kirk that Maria is selling No.7 and he's now homeless. John's miserable to think that he'll be stuck working in the cafe forever. Wanting some excitement in her own life, Rita dials Lewis but quickly loses her nerve.

Part Two: Taking a deep breath, Rita takes the plunge and rings Lewis again. They arrange to go to a matinee at the theatre that afternoon. Nick won't commit to agreeing to a date to visit Gail. Fiz tries to buoy John up but he remains glum. Steve claims the credit for Ciaran's cooking. Sunita tells Dev she's made an appointment to view a surprise property later. Norris tries to contact Tina to find out if she's returning to work soon. He's agog when Jason refuses to help, explaining that they have split. Steve's worried when Becky abandons their packing and is nowhere to be found. David visits Gail in prison and is pleased to see her looking brighter. She gets worried when he admits he went to the Lake District to see Mark and Jane Kenworthy. Becky emerges from the bathroom clutching her stomach in agony. Steve's concerned.
