Plot[]
Part One: Peter is livid to be told by a solicitor that he has no option but to wait for the court hearing. Ken and Leanne try to keep him calm. Visiting the Blackpool Sealife Centre, Eve admonishes George for taking such a momentous decision without consulting her. George is adamant that he will not allow Peter to ruin Simon's life. The boy overhears them. Tina refuses to talk to Jason when he tries to explain himself. Peter is despondent, thinking his chances of recovering his son are small, and he starts to bicker with Ken. Simon asks his grandparents when he's going to see his dad and Leanne. Eve isn't pleased when George lies to him. Peter tells Leanne he needs one drink. She tries to bar his way out of the flat. John lies to Fiz, saying he's meeting an old colleague, as he sets off for an interview for the teaching job. Leanne chases Peter to the Rovers to try and prevent him from going inside. She tells him a few home truths and he breaks down. Leanne tells him that he must be strong ahead of the hearing and takes him back home. George and Eve argue on the pier as she insists that they take the boy back. Simon overhears about Berkshire and runs away. His grandparents see that he's missing.
Part Two: Gail tells Audrey about seeing Joe at the chapel of rest. Audrey suggests she should go and stay with Sarah in Milan after the funeral. Gail agrees. George and Eve search frantically for Simon. He refuses her suggestion that they call the police. Kelly makes the excuse of a lost earring to stay behind after work. John begins his interview with Dave Bonsall. Carla meets Trevor in the Rovers. He reveals he's a binman and is relieved when she doesn't mind. They head off to a restaurant. Kelly begins to search Carla's office for the accounts. Eve secretly calls Peter to let him know Simon's missing. John explains away the gap in his CV by saying he's been travelling. He's delighted to be offered the job, starting a week on Monday, and accepts. Their argument over, Tina and Jason see DS Carr and DC Glynn coming out of the medical centre as they continue their enquiries. Carr receives a call to say that a couple who witnessed Joe and Gail's final row have come forward. Peter receives Eve's call and he and Leanne hurriedly set off for Blackpool. Leanne tells Janice to let Ken and Deirdre know. A crying Simon hides alone on the front.
