Plot[]
Part One: Peter's released without charge from the police station, having spent the night in custody. George decides to keep Simon off school for the day and suggests a trip to Blackpool with the possibility of an overnight stay. Eve's not sure but is forced to go along with the idea. Janice gets excited when Trevor asks her to recommend a posh restaurant. Tina readies herself to meet the funeral director with Gail. Although grateful, she refuses Jason's offer to go with her. Nick drops off Kelly late at work after spending the night with her. He tries to persuade Kelly to borrow the factory accounts for him but she refuses. Carla sees them together in Nick's car. Ken reports to Deirdre that the police have referred Peter's complaint about George to social services. She worries that he'll turn to drink again. Peter and Leanne decide to take Simon out of school immediately to keep him away from George. He watches on with temptation as Leanne pours a bottle of wine down the sink. David makes Gail see that there's no physical evidence against her for making a murder charge stick. Peter and Leanne are annoyed to discover that Simon's not there and George reported him sick. Peter decides to go and take his son from George.
Part Two: The factory staff speculate on whether Nick will buy into the factory. Kelly remains quiet. Peter and Leanne call at George's house but see no sign of life. Peter refuses to leave the house. Tina breaks down after returning from seeing Joe's body lying in the chapel of rest. Julie eavesdrops on Carla arranging a date. Janice brags that Trevor's going to take her on a date soon. Gossiping about Nick and Carla, Kelly brags about her night with Nick and his plans for the factory. Carla overhears and puts her in her place. DS Carr and DC Glynn visit Bill and Jason at the yard. Tina overhears Bill telling them about finding Joe with the Rovers' charity collection jar. When Jason mentions his break-in at the medical centre, she bursts in and shouts at Jason for betraying her father. A humiliated Kelly rings Nick and tells him that she will get him the accounts. Peter returns after waiting two hours. Peter is served with papers from the court. He's bemused until Ken explains that George has temporary charge of Simon until he can get a permanent custody order. In Blackpool, George informs Eve about the court order and suggests they stay away until next week's court hearing when he hopes to take the boy to Berkshire after he wins. She's staggered.
