Plot[]

Part One: In daylight, Joe's body lies undisturbed floating on the lake. The strain getting to them, Gail and David begin to row. Jesse has collected his winnings. Eileen dreams of a holiday. Gail refuses David's suggestion that they shop Joe. Tina receives a bouquet of flowers supposedly from her dad, though she dislikes all of the blooms. She's upset he couldn't be bothered to phone her and instead wasted his money on flowers. Roy warns Anna and John that he's going to have to reduce their hours at the cafe until business picks up. Rick harasses Gail for money. She refuses to open the door to him. Rick tries Tina instead but Jason tells him to shove off. Eileen is pleased when she overhears Jesse on the phone to a travel agent. Rick pushes a newspaper through the letterbox at No.12 and sets fire to it.


Part Two: Jason smells burning. He puts the fire out and sees a smiling Rick driving away. Tina's shaken. A bubbly Eileen tells Steve she might need a fortnight off at very short notice. Jason calls the police. Tina sends a text to Joe telling him that his loan shark has just tried to kill her. David reads the text and tells Gail they really should go to the police. Gail refuses. Gary arrives on leave for the weekend from Pirbright Camp with his army friend Quinny and they plan to hit the town in Manchester. Jesse buys expensive food for John. He also gives Eileen a watch as a present and tells her that he's spending the rest of his winnings by taking his parents on a holiday to Egypt. Eileen's gutted. Tina calls to see Gail and David and tells them that Jason's reported the loan shark to the police. David insists Gail tells her the truth. Audrey's fed up of spending her evenings alone and calls Lewis. Tina's disbelieving as Gail explains how her dad has faked his own death. Lewis calls on Audrey and they decide to stay in and spend the night chatting. Tina is scornful of her dad's plan. David sees the police through the window, come to ask questions about Rick. Gail insists that they aren't told about Joe otherwise he will go to prison. A woman walking her dog finds Joe's body.
