Plot[]
Part One: Ted arrives at No.8 ahead of tomorrow's wedding. David remains cynical about the nuptials. With No.8's bins not having been emptied, he dumps the rubbish in the skip outside the builder's yard. Tyrone waits to hear if has been offered a job at Hobson's. Ken is pleased when Peter offers to bring Simon round for his tea again. Becky admits to Liz that her and Steve's latest row woke Amy up. Liz is furious when Steve tells her to mind her own business after she chastises him. Becky throws back Steve's apology to her in his face. Nick turns up and is introduced to his grandad. When Becky says she's taking time off from looking after Amy, she and Steve start arguing with each other again until Liz screams at them to be quiet. Hobson's rings Tyrone. Joe asks Peter if he can help with the plumbing of his new bar. Peter agrees should the project go ahead and is astonished when Joe asks for an advance for materials. Peter sends him packing.
Part Two: Tyrone tells Molly that Hobson's have offered him the job and given him time to consider. In desperation, Joe asks Ted to lend him £4,000 for a deposit on a flat for him and Gail as he's anxious not to lose it. Having seen that state of some of the mothers outside Bessie Street School, George again broaches the subject of private schooling for Simon. Peter agrees to think about it. Ted agrees to lend Joe the money and to keep the news from Gail. Joe meets Rick in The Flying Horse. He hands over Ted's £4,000 and tells him the matter is over between them. Simon tells an incensed Ken that he overheard George talking to his dad and he wants him to go to another school that he will pay for. Steve and Becky continue to snipe at each other behind the bar. Jack's cautious about Tyrone giving up his partnership at the garage. Ken calls to see George and Eve. Tyrone agrees to take the job, pleasing Molly. Nick and David go for their first brotherly drink. Jason sees them and asks an uncomfortable Tina if Nick has a girlfriend. Ken rows with George about trying to buy Simon and mould him into what they want in a grandson. George throws him out. Gail goes to spend the eve of the wedding at Audrey's house. Joe wonders if he's good enough for his new wife.
