Plot[]
Part One: On their own, Peter and Jerry have settled their differences and Peter explains that he was only trying to impress Sally and that he's a pacifist by nature. Sally returns and Jerry goes along with the fiction that Peter hit him. Sally apologises for leading Jerry along, and leaving, tells the saddened man that he's very nice. Going to the yard, Jerry finds out from Albert that he and Minnie tried to set him up with Sally. Dennis buys sago from the corner shop on Mrs Cook's orders as she insists he needs fattening up. The Cooks work out their new act. Mrs Cook changes the sleeping arrangements again, saying she's worried that the boys coming in late could wake Dennis up and he finds himself sleeping on the sofa. She avoids paying his requests for board and lodging. An amused Jerry gives Albert and Minnie the specification of his ideal woman for the next time they try to set him up. A belligerent young man turns up in the Rovers and reveals he's Stanley Fairclough.
Part Two: Emily thinks David and Irma will want her room for the baby but they tell her there's no rush. Albert and Minnie bicker over who was at fault for their matchmaking failing. Stanley makes it clear to Jack, Annie and Jerry that he's bitter about Len's treatment of him. Dennis is finding Mrs Cook's housekeeping perfection to be stifling. Jerry gets impatient with Stanley's angry attitude towards his father. He gives Minnie a present for trying to help him. Len is shocked to find Stanley waiting for him at the yard. Dennis takes the Cook boys for a drink to mark their last night. Mrs Cook is annoyed they're touching alcohol and breaks the news to Dennis that their act has been extended for another month. Stanley tells Len that Harry Bailey has sent him to stay for a bit. Len is pleased to see his son but is puzzled as to how Harry knew he was depressed. Jerry tells him he wrote and told Harry. Len hopes he's done the right thing.
