Plot[]
Part One: Irma still has an upset stomach after four days. Ena wonders how Dennis is coping on his own. She and Val assure Minnie she did nothing wrong in breaking the news to Lucille about Harry's death. Annie wonders if she and Jack did the right thing in having Lucille stay with them after Harry and Concepta moved to Ireland, but he thinks she's going to need them more than ever now. Concepta prepares to go to the inquest with Len. She admits that she can't connect with Lucille who has been put on pills by the doctor. Elsie and Steve have enjoyed the beach. She tells him she's thankful for all she has. Jack sits with a withdrawn Lucille. She asserts that there's nothing to show for once you've lived. Thinking she's all alone in the world, Jack breaks her down by telling her that she means as much to him as his own children. Val complains when Dennis plays his music loudly. She's surprised when he asks for a lend of some cutlery as he's having three or four friends round. The inquest brings forth a verdict of accidental death. Jack tells Len to feel no guilt and tells Len he's worried that Concepta and Lucille are headed for a row.
Part Two: Dennis takes a call about some show business people coming to stay. Ena suspects he's up to something. Maria Louisa suggests places that Elsie and Steve can visit. Elsie worries that Steve is missing Boston but he assures her that he's fine. Concepta worries about breaking the news to Christopher. Len offers to go back to Ireland to sort out the garage but Concepta is in too much of a daze to answer him. Lucille and Concepta try to reach out to each other. Len seeks solace in words of wisdom from Ena. Lucille decides to return to Ireland. Ken brings the cutlery round and is present when six girls, all members of a pipe band, arrive to stay at No.11's new theatrical digs, complete with their bagpipes. Ken is jealous of Dennis's beautiful female company but also shocked to hear that they mean to practise in the house.
