A coach arrives to take the residents to the church and Ken and Val wait with Ena and Minnie in No.5 for the set-off. They struggle give compliments to Emily on her outsize hat and convince her to change it. Dennis rehearses his speech. Len gives Elsie his present of a cocktail shaker. He promises Elsie he is not hurt by her marrying Steve. At the church Rev. Bryan Hesketh tells Steve and Gregg that this will be his first wedding. Hilda, Stan and David arrive, followed soon afterwards by Ken, Val, Emily, Ena and Minnie. Ena isn't impressed that the couple are being married in a church with heathens as witnesses. Gregg is uncertain of the British church protocols. As the Rovers party arrives, Concepta disapproves of the length of Lucille's dress. Walter Greenhalgh and Len are the last to arrive.
