Plot[]
Part One: Ken enjoys disturbing Albert as he dozes in No.9's back yard. Val discovers her washing has been stolen. Dennis, Lucille and Karen celebrate their supposed success in deceiving Miss Knight. Elsie and Steve return and report that they've been found out. Stan discovers Hilda has taken the money for the Rovers' outing which he, as treasurer, was holding. Dennis is in a mood with Steve for giving him away. Karen lets slip that Dennis stole Val's washing. Elsie threatens her son to put it back. Val blames Albert for letting the washing be stolen from under his nose. Irma takes her temper out on Emily over an ink stain in the bathroom, reminding her she's just a lodger. David apologises on her behalf and tells Emily that his wife isn't sleeping. Ken can't find who took the washing. When the yard is empty, Dennis hangs the items back up, astonishing Albert when he returns and sees them back in place on the line.
Part Two: There is an awkward atmosphere between Emily and Irma in the shop. David and Irma argue bitterly that he doesn't care about Hilda. Ena overhears and quietly restores the peace between them. The police still have no news. Dennis pays Lucille for posing as his wife and then has no money for Elsie's housekeeping demands. Karen gets a phone call saying she is being sent to be an au pair in Putney Bridge or she has to return to Sweden. Len, Jerry and Emily have Fairclough and Booth's first limited company meeting. Len has Albert bring in supplies of beer for the event. Len is selected as Chairman, Emily as Secretary and the cost of stationary is noted. Len is staggered that it's cost them £38, 15/- to be registered as a limited company. Irma cooks a special meal for David to say sorry, but it all goes wrong. Steve runs Karen to the station after she and Dennis say their goodbyes. A Doctor McKenzie turns up at No.13 with Hilda in his car. He asks Stan to come and see her before she comes into the house.
