Plot[]
Part One: The Barlows plan a picnic to Morecambe. Irma kids Albert that they plan to ask him along. Dot returns to Walter. Steve believes that whoever clobbered him picked up his cigarette case. Albert drops hints to Ken and Val but isn't invited to Morecambe. Jack suggests to Ken that Ena would appreciate a trip to the seaside after everything she's been through. Elsie tells Len that Steve's army friends are spoiling for a fight with Dave. She asks him to stand with Steve if the worst happens. He obliges her, eager to get one over on Dave. Ena agrees to go with the Barlows to Morecambe. Irma blackmails Stan into painting the shop for her. Albert hears from Dave that the Barlows have driven off without him.
Part Two: Walter throws Dot out again. She ends up back at No.11 but Dennis refuses to give up his room. Dave wants Steve off his back. Steve refuses to avoid him and goes to the Rovers with Elsie knowing he'll be there. Ena enjoys the outing. The Walkers panic as Dave, Steve and Len gather in the Rovers. Stan can't catch a break as Hilda gets him to repaint No.13's window frame. Dot wants to see more of Gregg. Dave gets Len to verify that they were in a gaming club together when Steve was assaulted. He notes that while he was there cleaning them out until 3am, Len disappeared at midnight. Elsie's suspicions shift to Len. Stan takes a cigarette case from his coat pocket and stores it at No.13.
