Plot[]

Part One: Hilda wakes Stan at 5.00am to get him to go to the Cup Final. Irma and Val swap places. Dave finds out from Albert that Elsie is seeing Steve. Irma lets Peter and Susan run riot, calling it self-expression. Ken arrives home to find his paper torn up. He has to make his own lunch. Val can't find anything in the shop. David keeps her right and treats her with kid gloves when she gives customers the wrong change. Both Val and Irma think the other brother is nicer than their husband. Dave invites Steve and Elsie out to a restaurant. Steve gets on with him and accepts on Elsie's behalf. Stan spends the day on a park bench.

Part Two: Stan tries to follow the match by looking through a TV shop window. Ken ends up looking after the twins. Irma doesn't cook him a meal and sends him off to Jackson's Chip Shop. She thinks Val has a cushy number at No.9. David lets Val have loads of tea breaks at the shop. Elsie warns Steve that Dave will throw his money around and make him feel like an embarrassed hanger-on. Steve agrees to cancel the date. Dave seems to take it well when he arrives at No.11 to collect them. Elsie warns Steve that he won't take it lightly. Hilda waits up for Stan. Albert thinks he's seen Stan on television. Val and Irma are annoyed that the other got a soft time from the men. Elsie's touched to find that Steve kept an old photo of her in his wallet. Steve is assaulted in his car outside the betting shop.
