Plot

Steve sneaks off to meet Jim from prison. Liz wonders what he's up to. Doreen still hasn't decided which of her suitors to choose. Rita hatches a plan with Emily to rescue Norris from Doreen's clutches. Rosie's cross when John only awards her a "C" for her essay. She wields her power over him and demands he bumps her grade up to an "A". Carla, Liam and Tony have a business meeting to discuss Tony's new underwear range. Liam makes snide remarks throughout the meeting, annoying Carla. Steve collects Jim from prison. He breaks the news to him that Liz is marrying Vernon. Although disappointed, Jim remains calm and rational which amazes Steve. Sally compares Rosie's "A" grade essay with her own "C" grade one and realising hers is better than Rosie's, she confronts John about the grades he's given. The man in the car continues to hover near the school gates watching for Ryan. Liam and Maria agree they don't want to end their relationship but neither feels entirely ready for kids. They're not sure what to do. Steve drops Jim off at his bail hostel, guilty that he can't take him back to the Rovers. Rita lies to Norris telling him that Doreen has chosen George over him. John tells Rosie he won't be blackmailed into bumping up her grades again. Michelle insists that Steve tells Liz that Jim is out of prison.

Jim seems a lot calmer and when Steve carefully broaches the subject of Liz’s wedding plans, he claims he’s happy for her and knows he blew his chance with her years ago. Jim assures his son that his days of causing trouble are over.

Rosie knows that she can manipulate John and after she warns him that she can't carry on seeing him if it means her grades are going to suffer, he eventually relents and changes her mark to an A.
