It is a worrying day for [[Tracy Barlow|Tracy]] as the two people who know what really happened on that fateful night prepare to give evidence in her defence.

[[Liam Connor|Liam]] introduces two new Polish workers to the [[Underworld|factory]] girls, [[Kasia Barowicz|Kasia]] and Judy. [[Janice Battersby|Janice]] is unfriendly and rude to them and suggests to [[Joanne Jackson|Joanne]] they might be illegal immigrants. Joanne's quick to defend them. [[David Platt|David]] takes the witness stand but he comes across as cocky and insincere and fails to endear himself to the jury. Tracy's worried. The [[Usher (Mike Neary)|usher]] calls Deirdre to take the witness stand but she has a panic attack and says she can't go through with it. [[Ken Barlow|Ken]] tries to calm her down. Deirdre eventually stands up in [[Weatherfield Courts of Justice|court]]. She tries to lie for her daughter but it's obvious she's hiding the truth. The jury are unimpressed and Tracy's furious. Deirdre tells Tracy's [[Jayne Simon|solicitor]] that Tracy's lying and so is David and that Tracy planned [[Charlie Stubbs|Charlie]]'s murder. [[Carla Connor|Carla]] asks [[Leanne Battersby|Leanne]] about her property job but Leanne manages to sidestep the question. Tracy's appalled at Deirdre for letting her down telling her that it'll be her fault when she's sent to prison. [[Peter Barlow|Peter]] and [[Blanche Hunt|Blanche]] agree. Deirdre breaks down.

The real problems start when he takes the stand though and it soon becomes clear that his evidence might not be everything she had hoped for.
 
 
Meanwhile Deirdre decides to take the stand much to [[Ken Barlow|Ken]]'s dismay, but she panics at the stand as the prosecution makes her contradict herself. As the court prepares to adjourn for the weekend Tracy is feeling betrayed at Deirdre's appalling performance.

Plot
