Plot[]

Part One: Lucille doesn't see the point in trying anymore as the world might end soon. She shocks Jack by announcing she's joining the student demo. Annie surprises her husband by giving her approval though she's puzzled by Lucille's ignorance of the politics of the Vietnam War. Lucille says she's going to broaden her mind. Val hopes that Irma and David will start a family. The Gazette publishes a truth game for married couples to find out if they've wed the right person. Ken and Jack think it's a load of rubbish. Ena thinks the demonstration is pointless as there will always be wars. Annie makes Ken admit that there could be trouble at the demo. She forbids Lucille from going but Lucille says she'll be there, and she hopes there's trouble.

Part Two: Alf discovers the students have been refused police permission to stage the demo. He tells one of the student organisers, John Tyrrell, that the police will break up the meeting if it goes ahead. Ken's undeterred when John passes the information on. Lucille decides not to bother with the protest. She lets Annie think it's for her benefit. Lucille gets Annie interested in the truth game, to Jack's dismay. John energises the protesters at the Town Hall with a speech criticising the government for kowtowing to the USA. They're just getting started when the police arrive. Obliged to play the truth game, Jack tries to give the responses Annie wants to hear. He struggles when he's asked his wife's worst faults and says she doesn't have any. When she begins listing his, he responds in kind and calls her a nagger. The police move the students by force. Ken is one of the people carted off.
