Plot[]
Part One: Dot is still full up after Christmas Day and refuses Elsie's offer of more food. Dennis considers going to the party as Biggles. Ena tries to help Vera rest but she is suspicious of her mother's sudden concern. Stan takes a break from job hunting for the festive period. He sends Hilda off to the party telling her to act normally around Len and Elsie. Annie isn't letting anyone see her costume ahead of time.

Albert uses his Santa suit from the department store to save money. Lucille teases a secret but won't share it with anyone. Dennis changes his mind about his costume. He and Len arrive at the party only to find they're both dressed as Batman.
Part Two: Irma and David try to stop Hilda making loud insulting comments about Elsie. Annie makes a grand late entrance as Queen Elizabeth the First. Jack and Stan spend the evening in the Rovers alone. Lucille sneaks off to another party before the grand parade. Elsie sets Dot up as judge. Hilda and Annie don't consider her impartial but are overruled. Vera catches Ena doing her ironing and tells her she's not an invalid. Ena has to hold back the tears as she watches her daughter dying. Dot gives Jerry first prize. A miffed Annie's excusing herself from the party when Dot throws her a sop by awarding her best dressed lady. Lucille is late arriving home. She tells a surprised Jack her secret - she's engaged.
