Plot[]
Part One: Elsie's strange phone calls continue. Irma wonders why Linda would give up a comfortable life in Canada for Weatherfield. Val's jealous as the menfolk, including Ken, all offer Elsie a lift to the station to meet the Cheveskis. A cab driver friend of Jack's takes her. Irma suspects that David once went out with Linda. Albert stirs the pot by joking that they had a red hot affair. Linda, Linda and Paul arrive on the Liverpool train. Ivan gets a warm welcome at the Rovers but is evasive about why they're back. Elsie demands the truth from Linda, who replies that it's what Ivan wants.
Part Two: Linda decides to enrol Paul at a local school. Ivan doesn't see the point as he has a job waiting for him in Birmingham. Linda isn't sure that she wants to go. Ken puts Elsie onto Miss Horrocks, the headmistress of Bessie Street School. Elsie walks in as the Cheveskis are rowing about Birmingham. Val assures Irma that David is pulling her leg about him and Linda, but Ivan's comment that Linda knew David very well has her worried. Albert's offended when David calls him a meddler. Linda gets Paul taken on at Bessie Street, starting right away. Ivan's annoyed and accuses his wife of trying to cause more trouble. Elsie asks what he means. Ivan tells her to ask her daughter why they're home.
