Plot[]
Part One: Brenda advises Clara to find out from Albert where she stands. Len gets Brenda a stool to use behind the bar and offers to take payment in drinks. The barking dogs keep the residents awake all night. Ken complains to Jed and is assured that Dennis will walk them and wear them out. Dennis can't control the pack when he takes them out as they're too strong. Clara tells Val that Albert needs someone to look after him and she's going to make him see it.
Part Two: Jed and Dennis gain another hound when Minnie recommends the "Viaduct Boarding Kennels" to Harold Simpkins at the launderette. Clara tells Albert that she cares for him and asks him to marry her for companionship. He tries to spare her feelings, telling her he's too set in his ways to live with a woman. She feels she's made a fool of herself but he promises that no one else will ever know. Harold drops off his dog - a Labrador. Brenda entertains Len and Jim at the Rovers after closing time. Jed interrupts the men as they compete for Brenda's affections and is thrown out when he tries to get fresh with the landlady. The party mood dies when Annie calls the pub to check that everything is okay. Dennis is horrified when local villain, "Big" Arthur Johnson's dog, Penelope, eats its way out of the kennels and escapes.
