Plot[]

Part One: Brenda Riley settles into the Rovers. She asks Clara which customers to look out for - especially the men. Lucille enjoys living with her as she gives her make-up tips. Ken tells David he's phoned Val and she's agreed to come back. Dennis and Jed have to close the auction room as they don't have planning permission. Dennis is miserable as he's gone from having two jobs to being unemployed. Albert hears rumours about Ken seeing another woman and asks him why Val walked out. Ken promises him he hasn't done anything daft. The Rovers runs out of pies as Brenda hasn't placed any food orders. Jed's ears prick up when he hears Harry Pegg complain that he can't find a cheap kennel for his dog Thumper while he goes on a fishing holiday in North Wales. He offers to board the canine at the "Viaduct Boarding Kennels" at 8/6 a night. Ken picks up Val and the twins in his new car.

Part Two: Brenda redeems herself by laying on hotpots for the menfolk. Lucille tricks her into allowing Ray into the back room by saying that Annie allows it. Ken shows Val the redecorated parlour at No.9. She doesn't think anything's changed and isn't sure if Ken loves her. He assures her he does. Len sends Ray back to the yard in order to be alone with Brenda. Jed tries to rent Thumper out as a guard dog. Albert tells Val that people are talking about her and Ken. Assuming the rumours are that she's left Ken, she says it's nonsense and she just went away for a change of scenery. Minnie tells Clara that Albert is shy and she should propose to him. Jed agrees to board five more dogs belonging to Harry's fishing buddies, to Dennis's horror.
