Plot[]
Part One: Word spreads that Dave Smith is buying the shop. Ena orders Lionel not to sell to him but Lionel tells her to mind her own business - he owes the street nothing. Lucille tells Jack that she's finished with Kenny Stevens as she's got fed up with his ideas. Ena goes to confront Dave at his betting shop and is appalled when Minnie bets on a horse while they wait. Val takes up the piano. Len provides an old one for her. Ken meets Jackie again. Ena lays into Dave for preying on vulnerable people. She storms out when Minnie's horse comes in at 25-1 and she decides to put another bet on.
Part Two: Ken tells Jackie about his journalistic ambitions. He finds they have a lot in common. Minnie is upset when Ena goes on about the evils of gambling, thinking she means her. Lionel is disappointed that he couldn't make the shop work for him. Ena agrees to give Val piano lessons. Albert tries to avoid Clara. Lionel tells Dave he wants £1,750 for the shop and £200 for the stock. Dave doesn't want the stock so Lionel refuses to sell to him at all. Ken isn't keen on having a piano in the house. Val tells him she wants to have something in her life apart from the twins. Jackie calls No.9 and speaks to Ken on the phone.
