Plot[]
Part One: Irma and David secretly plan the wedding. An oblivious Hilda is disappointed that the couple seem to be in no hurry to set the date. Len returns from Nottingham to find the yard full of Christmas trees. He's ready to tear a strip off Jerry for buying them but changes his tune when Jerry reveals that they're getting nearly £5 a week storage money from Dennis. Elsie's dubious when Dennis promises to have them all sold today. Sandra works a week's notice. Lionel warns his daughter about her cavalier attitude. Len plans a holiday with all the money he's going to make at Dennis's expense. However, Dennis reveals that he's sold the trees with two days' storage unused so they now owe him money.
Part Two: Annie organises the Licensed Victuallers' annual ball. Jack's annoyed that it's on Christmas week when they're at their busiest. Dennis has the trees removed from the yard. Len agrees to help move Sandra into Leestand Road but he asks her not to tell Lionel. Val can't use her phone as Dennis is always hogging the party line. Hilda and Stan feel sorry for Lionel and disapprove of Sandra's secrets and disloyalty. Irma starts to feel bad about not telling them about the wedding, knowing how upset they'll be when they find out.
