Plot[]
Part One: Elsie's furious when Dennis suggests that her days of picking up men in pubs are behind her. He wishes she would grow old gracefully. David keeps dodging Hilda when she tries to discuss the wedding with him. Hilda's speechless when Irma goes hard at her, telling her to stop banging on about the wedding or there won't be one. The Walkers realise Lucille hasn't got the secretarial job she was after when she storms through the bar, ignoring them. Lucille thinks she was passed over because she ran away from the orphanage but Jack tells her it's probably because of the way she speaks. Annie agrees to give her elocution lessons when Jack tells her Lucille wants to speak like her. Irma sends Hilda to Coventry to make sure she gets the message. Elsie goes man-hunting at the Fox and Hounds.
Part Two: Irma frightens Jerry by flirting with him while he's putting up shelves in Lucille's bedroom. Robert Maxwell and his friend Nigel chat up a tetchy Elsie at the Fox and Hounds. Elsie sends the latter packing when he tries to get her to go somewhere with him but accepts a gin and tonic from Robert. She relaxes when she realises he isn't superficial. Finding out he's married with children, Elsie asks Robert why he isn't with his family. He suggests he's having a mid-life crisis. Stan asks Hilda what Irma has done to upset her. She tells him to mind his own business. Robert gives Elsie a lift home. On the way, he collapses at the wheel. Elsie grabs the wheel and runs the car off the road into some hedges.
