[[Deirdre Barlow|Deirdre]] and [[Linda Baldwin|Linda]] join [[Maxine Peacock|Maxine]] and [[Audrey Roberts|Audrey]] outside [[Freshco]]'s. [[Curly Watts|Curly]], [[Ken Barlow|Ken]], [[Mike Baldwin|Mike]] and [[Alma Halliwell|Alma]] run free but Lenny grabs [[Ashley Peacock|Ashley]] and holds him at gunpoint in Curly's office. [[Fred Elliott|Fred]] sneaks into the office, refusing to leave Ashley alone. He urges Lenny to keep him as a hostage and let Ashley go. Maxine becomes hysterical when everyone but Ashley is released. When Lenny threatens to shoot Fred Ashley jumps him. Fred grabs the gun and the police rescue them. Ashley and Maxine have an emotional reunion. Linda is stunned to see wounded Dean being carried out of the store. Mike is horrified when she reveals he's her brother. They go to the hospital with him. [[Emma Watts|Emma]] is congratulated for shooting Dean but she feels sickened by the incident. Alma agrees to go out for a meal with [[Frank O'Connor]]. Linda is horrified when Dean goes into cardiac arrest in the ambulance. Mike comforts her as she breaks down realising Dean is dead. Curly thanks Emma for saving his life but she is shocked to hear she killed Dean.

Plot

Lenny Larkin grabs the gun as paramedics look after Dean Sykes. Deirdre and Linda join Maxine and Audrey outside Freshco's. Curly, Ken, Mike and Alma run free but Lenny grabs Ashley and holds him at gunpoint in Curly's office. Fred sneaks into the office, refusing to leave Ashley alone. He urges Lenny to keep him as a hostage and let Ashley go. Maxine becomes hysterical when everyone but Ashley is released. When Lenny threatens to shoot Fred, Ashley jumps him. Fred grabs the gun and the police rescue them. Ashley and Maxine have an emotional reunion. Linda is stunned to see wounded Dean being carried out of the store. Mike is horrified when she reveals that he's her brother. They go to the hospital with him. Emma is congratulated for shooting Dean but she feels sickened by the incident. Alma agrees to go out for a meal with Frank O'Connor. Linda is horrified when Dean goes into cardiac arrest in the ambulance. Mike comforts her as she breaks down.
