Plot[]
Martin declares a "Family Day" to get everyone to get along with each other for a day, but it has the opposite effect when David whines to be let off going to school, and Gail and Martin end up rowing again. Gail tells him that she's sick of him acting the voice of reason. Fred considers applying to be a magistrate. Discharged from hospital, Steve visits Jim on remand, furious with him for confessing. Jim explains that as he killed Jez he should take the punishment. Sarah tells Gail she hates the way she takes over Bethany, making decisions about her without consulting her. Gail is enraged when Martin doesn't defend her, but he's had enough of her snapping at everyone. They bitterly row and she brings his affair up. Martin tells Gail that he can't bear the insinuations and snide remarks. During their row, Sarah packs a bag, takes Bethany and leaves home. She dumps herself and Bethany on the Croppers, telling them that she can't cope with all the rows at home. Hayley is keen for them to stay but Roy doesn't approve and rings worried Gail and Martin. Gail is furious when Sarah tells her she's staying with the Croppers and threatens to go to social services if they force her to return home. Hayley suggests she stays for one night to let everyone cool down. Gail is forced to relent.
