Plot[]
Ken is kept away from the twins in case he passes chickenpox onto them. Val thinks Ken is a snob and a hypocrite for looking down on the Ogdens. Dennis dresses smartly for his interview for Pepper's Salon. Sandra gives him her lucky charms from Egypt. Jack goes ahead and enters for the bowling President's Cup. Annie doesn't want him to compete as he'll be practicing all the time and not pulling his weight at the Rovers. She's embarrassed when Hilda hears Jack telling her to shut up. Albert asks around for odd jobs to earn extra money. Jack takes him on to help load the empties onto the wagons but immediately regrets doing so, considering Albert's age. Len gives Albert a job clearing up the yard on Fridays. Mr Pepper is impressed with Dennis but has to turn him down as his diploma is a private one and won't get him work anywhere but Gerard's. Dennis turns down his offer to take him on as a non-qualified assistant on a much lower salary. Jack performs the unhappy task of telling Albert he can't employ him. Albert feels old and worthless. Sandra is keen to find out how Dennis got on but he just returns her lucky charms and walks out. Dennis breaks the news to Elsie that he has no job as he's walked out on Gerard. Elsie is angry that her £65 has gone down the drain. Albert boycotts the Rovers. Val falls asleep while talking to Hilda. Hilda thinks she's exhausted but Ken takes a temperature and tells Val she has chickenpox.
