Plot[]
Elsie hasn't told anyone other than Dennis where she's working. Lucille refuses to eat her cooked breakfast and lets it be known that she'll have only free range eggs in future. Hilda worries about the women Stan meets on his round. Lucille thinks the area is full of small-minded people. Annie is despondent after rowing with her and grows upset that there are people who look down on her. Val tries to sell her salon equipment but no one's interested. Hilda's suspicions intensify when Stan fails to take his flask to work three weeks in a row. She wonders who's feeding him. Emily doesn't have time for her driving lessons as she's busy running the shop on her own. Elsie is late as she goes out in the wrong shoes and has to go home for them. Emily has given up on her new assistant arriving and is horrified when Elsie comes in and takes root behind the counter. Stan is two hours late home from work. Hilda fears he's had a crash in the milk float. Ena lectures Elsie about messing Emily about and makes her late returning from her lunch hour. Emily reprimands her when she does turn up, showing her who's boss. Elsie doesn't behave professionally when dealing with Len and Dennis. Hilda rings the dairy from the Rovers and finds out Stan finished at midday and left his van at the depot. Roger Wain enlists Lucille to help him look after elderly and housebound people. Stan turns up at the Rovers with a black eye.
