Plot[]
The wrestling ring has been set up in the sporting club. Norman tells Charlie that if the night isn't a success, the club will have to close and he'll be out of a job. The posters are changed to advertise "Ogden the Terrible" on the bill. Norman worries that Stan won't be able to go the distance. Stan nervously knocks back a few whiskies in the Rovers. His demeanour isn't helped by talk of how Ian Campbell has put previously opponents in hospital. Tickler refuses to let Stan fill himself up with food before the bout. Tickler backs out of taking Florrie out for a meal and tells her he's taking her to the wrestling instead. Minnie gets tickets for Ena but she refuses to go, likening it to a blood sport. The huge Mr. Campbell has a drink in the Rovers. Jack thinks of going to see the fight but Annie insists they'll be too busy. Dennis meets Ian Campbell and is unaware who he is until he shakes hands and gets crushed. Minnie gives the ticket to Albert. Annie is annoyed when Dennis provides Jack with a ticket. Stan tries to back out of the match by borrowing money for a train ticket to Liverpool from Charlie but he doesn't have any to hand. Tickler collects him before he can escape. Hilda and the residents gather on their ringside seats to watch the sport with a warm-up match. Norman is pleased with the attendance. Jack gets carried away with the excitement but Minnie can't bear to watch. Stan is a bag of nerves as he waits. The huge Campbell petrifies him. Ena finds the bar of the Rovers empty. Annie treats her to a cherry brandy on the house. Stan's match is announced. Len is his second. The residents cheer him on as he just manages to stand his ground but has to submit in the first round to a Boston crab. Ena and Annie get drunk together on various liquors. Ena sympathises with Annie over her loss in the talent contest and Annie invites her to Sunday lunch one day. Stan counted out after being thrown into the audience. Annie and Ena sing the evening away in the pub.
