Plot[]
Reg and Maureen set up the corner shop. Reg becomes restless, not used to the smallness of his new empire. Mike takes on a jobseeker at £10 a week but he doesn't turn up for work at the unit. Mike is furious as he has a big order. A solicitor tells the McDonalds that they do have a case for constructive dismissal. Vera agrees to print Mike's T-shirts but walks out when he only offers her £10. She does the work when Mike agrees on £30. Reg starts a prize draw to drum up custom but Percy complains when they won't give him a ticket for combined purchases he's made during the day. Alma is shaken when Tanya asks her not to let herself into the flat any more as it is an assured tenancy. Jim is annoyed when Liz decides she doesn't want to claim against the brewery. She doesn't want the past dredging up. Liz accuses Jim of only wanting to proceed with the case to get back at Richard Willmore.

- Viewing Figures: UK broadcast - 18,780,000 viewers (1st place - combined figure including repeat).
- The Granada Plus repeat of this episode on 29th October 2004 was edited for timing reasons, omitting the last 16" of a Kabin scene in Part One, where Rita Sullivan tells Mavis Wilton she doubts the McDonalds' chances of defeating Newton & Ridley in a legal battle, as well as the first 9" of the following scene where Mike Baldwin crosses Coronation Street. The ITV3 repeat on 14th November 2019 reinstated the cut material.
