Jack is alarmed to hear that the brewery are going to pay him monthly and not weekly, by cheque. Rita goes away to Whitby for a rest. Don ventures into the Rovers. He gets his disabled cards and looks forward to getting a new taxi. Against his better judgement, he lends the stickers to Jack until he gets his car. Ivy is hurt to discover that Don has been in the Street without calling on her. She feels that no one is interested in her any more. Jack hasn't got a bank account and doesn't like the idea of paying his wages into Vera's. Gail tells Martin that she'd like them to go away for a few days. Richard Willmore tells Bet that she'll be getting a new till which will be linked with the brewery computer. He also tells her that she's overstaffed and someone will have to go. Jack overhears and is horrified.
