Plot[]
Reg annoys Rita by slagging Ted off for taking early retirement. Martin is keen to train to be a nurse. Curly follows Reg's instructions by getting Vanessa Morgan to do the worst jobs. Rita is jealous of Ted's plan to enjoy the rest of his life. Jack runs round at the Rovers to please Alec. Bet is livid that Raquel can get away with anything at the Rovers whilst Jack is always got at. Brendan Scott makes a surprise visit to the store while Reg is on a long lunch break. Curly has to cover for his boss. Ken decides to move back to the flat as he feels unwelcome at No.1. He and Tracy make up before he goes. Brendan tells Curly that Vanessa is the daughter of Lord Walter Morgan, chairman of Bettabuy. Curly immediately eases up on Vanessa and moves her onto wines and spirits. Sister Walker informs Martin that if he passes an intelligence test, he can start at the School of Nursing in April. Deirdre and Tracy help Ken move his things back to the shop flat. Liz gets a job behind the bar at the Legion, getting 80p an hour more than at the Rovers. Reg is shocked to find Vanessa stacking shelves and demands she mops out the storeroom, overruling Curly. Martin tells Gail that the training course will take three years. Gail feels that they won't cope if he has to take a cut in wages. She admits she's jealous that he's young enough to make a career change. Mr Thorpe sacks Jack for running off from the funeral. Raquel gets tired of Bet giving her cold looks and threatens to resign but Alec refuses to let her. Bet is sick of Alec undermining her authority. Curly decides not to tell Reg who Vanessa is.
