Plot[]

Alec is saddened to hear about the death of one of his acts, Arthur Titchum aka "Mazini The Memory Man". Alf is concerned that Ken plans to move in with Deirdre and wriggle out of paying his rent arrears. Deirdre assures him that he'll be returning to the flat very soon. Jack notices a fungal smell coming from the Rovers' cellar. Alf reminds Ken that he's behind with the rent. Ken is in no hurry to fetch his rent book from the flat. Rita teases Percy by suggesting that Phyllis plans to propose to him tomorrow as it'll be 29th February. Alec tells Liz he can't re-employ her as the brewery have instructed him to have young bar staff. Liz is humiliated tells him to stick his reference when he offers her one. Deirdre refuses to enter Ken's flat to retrieve the rent book for Alf. Bet tells Liz to leave Alec to her. Tracy is thrilled when Mark Jackson asks to listen to some of her tapes. Andy is taken on at Bettabuy, in the warehouse. He shows his aptitude by showing Reg and Curly how to navigate the office computer. Phyllis doesn't plan to propose to Percy as it's not a woman's job. Liz has to tell Jim what Alec said to her before he goes into the Rovers. Bet wears Alec down until he agrees to get rid of Raquel. He's no sooner given in when Jim barges into the back room to give him a piece of his mind. Jim tells Alec that if he upsets Liz, he deals with him. Alec snaps and calls Jim a mad Irishman. The regulars side with Jim when he tells them that Liz was instructed to wear something low-cut to attract customers and asks what he's got Raquel taking off. Alec throws Jim out and bars him.
