Plot[]
Derek spends his day cooking for Ted. Tracy is sick of her parents' civilised attitude towards the divorce. Steve thinks it's unfair that he has to pay £20 a week rent whilst Andy lives at home for free. Jack starts his first day as a pallbearer. His gloomy mood causes Vera to worry that he's becoming depressed. She decides to buy her husband a jumper from the market to cheer him up. Raquel is turned down for a modelling assignment as she's too old. Vera has a shock when she sees Jack driving a hearse in Miller Street while out shopping although he ducks quickly out of view when he spots her, thus giving the impression of a driverless vehicle. Andy gets his mock results: 'B' in maths, 'C' in computer studies and 'D' in English. Liz correctly guesses that his sudden interest in going to Sheffield is because he wants to be near Paula. Steve is annoyed when Andy is given money to celebrate his results with Paula. Vera tackles Jack about riding in a hearse. He tells her she needs glasses. The Wiltons entertain Rita and Ted. Derek tries to sell himself to Ted hoping that he'll recommend him for his job. Rita works out what is going on and stops Derek from going to get his CV to show Ted. Ted doesn't realise it's a set up and enjoys getting to know Rita. Ultimately, Derek doesn't get the chance to ask Ted as the salesman tells the group that his nephew Roger Brookes is going to replace him. He rubs salt in the wound by saying that Roger is young and full of potential. Ken tells Tracy that he and Deirdre will always love each other. Derek feels dejected and weeps with no hope in life.
