Plot[]
Sally can't believe that Kevin threw away £20 on a horse. Don begs Ivy to make her peace with Gail. The Platts count on Nicky to give social worker Kathy Green a good reference for Martin. The Gilroys think Mike was only staying one night but he plans to stop at the Rovers until he finds somewhere permanent. Mike hears about Kevin's employment woes. Ivy turns up at the Platts' and is surprised that Gail isn't at work. Gail gets her out of the house before the social worker arrives but Ivy hears the woman introduce herself. Sally doesn't know how the Websters can cope financially. Kevin doesn't think he did anything wrong as he thought the horse was a safe bet. Gail and Martin are uneasy as they allow the social worker to privately interview Nicky. Sally goes to Des's betting shop and puts all their money on a horse to spite Kevin. Kevin tries to stop her but Des has to take it. Kathy isn't allowed to tell the Platts what Nicky said about Martin. Sally's horse doesn't win. She doesn't care and breaks down at the fact they have nothing left. They agree not to fall out. Ivy puzzles over the visit from social services. Audrey delights in telling Mike that Alma is now going out with Ken. Martin gets it out of Nicky that he told the social worker that they won't let him play football or see his grandma. Don works out that the social worker was there about the adoption. Ivy swears to stand in the way.
