Curly thinks of finding somewhere else to live and gives the Duckworths two weeks' notice. Liz thinks the police should be told about Steve and Joanne but Jim and Flick vote her down. Flick is terrified of telling her parents that her sister has done a runner under her watch. Joanne doesn't like roughing it in the Lake District. She is upset when Steve breaks into a caravan. Liz goes back on her agreement with Flick and calls the police. Curly threatens not to return to work unless he goes to Hartlepool and tenders his resignation. Reg tells him it's too late and the position has been filled. Flick is forced to give the police her parents' address. She nervously calls home and tells them what's happened. Alec tells Bet that he's taken out a £20,000 endowment policy for her as well as Victoria, but warns her there won't be as much money left in the pot each month. Joanne insists on leaving the caravan as she's scared the owners will turn up. Curly worries the Duckworths and Kimberley with his erratic behaviour. He tells Kimberley that he's not going to Barmouth with her parents. The bike breaks down and Steve discovers they've run out of money.
