Plot[]
Left with no money, Jack hitchhikes from Wales. Alec is already back to his miserable self, complaining about Cecil Newton using them in his battle with Nigel Ridley. Vera tells Kimberley she went off with entertainment manager Lester Fonteyne when Jack got drunk and showed her up. Bet tries to settle the feud with Deirdre. Deirdre tells her that the house is still on the market. Mike hints to Audrey that Alf is earning money on her tax. Alf dodges the subject when she presses him for an explanation. Alec puts the prices up to make up for the loss in sales. Steve stands up for Tracy when Andy picks on her at school. Tracy is astonished to find Ken teaching her class. Jack returns home after an arduous 12-hour trek and lays into Vera about her fling with Lester. She rows about his drinking and lack of interest in her. Audrey asks Mike what he meant about the tax laws. He tells her it's not his place to say. Deirdre ventures into the Rovers and makes up with the Gilroys. Jack has to sleep on the sofa.
